I create so many beautiful and unusual items from my own and my customer designs. But the phenomenal Phoenix is right up there in my Top 5 favourite designs. I base my scores on appearance, style and complexity – as in ‘was all the hard work worthwhile’? For this state-of-the-art design in exotic Niangon wood it was definitely worth it and it gets a 10/10 just for complexity.

Working with the wood, getting the angles just right and embedding the LED strips so they can hardly be seen, took time, effort and perseverance. I chose solid Niangon wood for its impeccable colour and grain. All the joints are hand assembled with real wooden dowels and the super smooth finish is enhanced with nothing other than a natural clear wax. 

The prodigious Phoenix frame is connected to the bowed base using a thin metallic rod and the LEDs are hidden in the wood’ They are barely visible when you look at the lamp straight on – switch it on and bright light shines, as if by magic.

Its contemporary design makes this lamp an attention-seeker! So don’t hide it away – the Phoenix needs to rise up on a marble pedestal in your hallway and cast a spell on your visitors. It will make an eye-catching objet d’art – the art of illumination – in your sensational home.  

Uniquely yours – The complete band of LEDs really are very bright. The photos show it with a warm white, but you can also have pure white and even multi-colour. Remote controls, different switches, dimmers and other cable colours are also an option. So please ask
