LuxSabre – the solution to all your lighting problems

Three glass lightbulbs on a blue/green background. There are question marks in each bulb

I don’t know about you but I always think that FAQs are great way to save everyone a bit of time. However, I’m pretty sure I won’t have covered every single question (I’m just a man, not a machine). So if I have missed something and you can’t find the answer you need, just give me a quick call or send an email. And if it’s a great question, I’ll add it to the list below. I’m also happy to chat about any home or business lighting problems you may have – let’s work together to design and create lighting solutions for your home or business that won’t break the bank!

Q – What does LED stand for?

A – LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. The first bit ‘Light emitting’ simply means that it gives off light. But what exactly is a diode? It’s probably a bit too technical even for me to even attempt to describe it, but there’s a great definition on TechTarget’s WhatIs page.

Q – How do the LED lamps work?

A – Lamps fitted with LEDs or ‘light-emitting diodes’ are a great low-energy, ultra-long life source of light. They work from a safe, low-voltage power supply which is supplied with the item.

Q – Are LED lights better for the environment?

A – Because LEDs have a much longer lifespan they are definitely more environmentally-friendly than other lighting options that often have to be replaced.

Q – What colour temperature are LEDs?

A – Without getting too technical, light colour, or colour temperature, is measured using the Kelvin scale. LEDs are available in warm colours (low k) to match the yellowish light of incandescent bulbs, but you can also choose cooler colours (high k) with whiter or bluer light.

All LEDs used in my lamps give off a warm white colour temperature of around 2700k unless otherwise requested. Day White and Cool White colours are also available. Please ask for the colour you prefer when ordering.

Q – Are LED lights cheaper to run than other bulbs?

A – LEDs are very energy efficient and therefore much cheaper to run than regular incandescent or fluorescent type bulbs.

Q – Do the LEDs ever need replacing?

A – The LEDs I use are designed to last a lifetime and should never need replacing. In the extremely rare case of a single LED chip or diode failing, this will not affect any of the other LEDs in the circuit.

Q – Can these lights be used outside?

A – At the minute none of my lights are classed as being waterproof or weatherproof so I would not recommend that they are used outside. Subscribe to the website to keep up-to-date with all my new products, offers and events.

Q – Are all items handmade by you?

A – Yes absolutely. All the lights in my store are 100% handmade by me, no-one else is involved in the process and this is what makes each one so special. When you buy one of my pieces, you become the owner of a unique work of art.

Q – Can I connect a light to a dimmer switch?

A – Generally, low voltage LEDs cannot be connected to most regular dimmer switches. However, I do offer alternatives, such as specific dimmer options. If this is your preference please message me for more details before ordering. So I can confirm whether a dimmer switch option is available for your chosen lamp.

Q – What’s the difference between the on/off switch and a touch dimmer option?

A – With the majority of my table lamp designs you can choose to have the lamp supplied with either a regular on/off rocker type switch, or a touch dimmer switch. The latter allows you to easily adjust the brightness of the lamp simply by pressing and holding the touch dimmer until the desired level of brightness is achieved. If this is your preference please message me for more details before ordering. So I can confirm whether a dimmer switch option is available for your chosen lamp.

Q – Will your lights work in the country where I live (compatible with 110v/220v)?

A – Yes absolutely, because I have different plug types to suit every country worldwide. So when you order any of my lights a plug will be fitted that will work perfectly in the country where it is being shipped to. Therefore no adaptors or anything else will be needed. If you are buying it as a gift for someone who lives in a country different to where it is being shipped, please be sure to mention this when ordering.

Q – Do you offer shipping to my country?

A – Shipping is available to any country worldwide, except where there are any special limitations imposed.

Q – How long will it take to receive my order?

A – Most items are handmade to order and usually completed within one week from purchasing. Shipping can take approximately 2 – 8 days, depending on the shipping address.

Q – What is the size of each item?

A – The size of each item is included in the item description. But please bear in mind that as these are 100% handmade, sizes can vary slightly. If you want something in a specific size I am happy to provide a quote for customised items.

Q – Do all the lights come with bulbs?

A – Many of my lights use integrated LEDs and do not require any separate bulbs. However, some of the lights do use regular bulbs and fittings, in which case bulbs will not be supplied because they are too fragile and more likely to break in transit.

Q – Can your designs be customized?

A – Yes indeed. I love hearing new ideas and collaborating with customers to provide solutions to their lighting problems. Feel free to contact me and bring your ideas to life with a light that’s made especially for you.

Q – Can I request a lighting design that isn’t shown?

A – Most of my items can be customized, but if you have something completely different in mind, please get in touch. I’m happy to discuss your ideas and create a bespoke lamp or light fitting custom-designed for you.
